Gijinka/Optional Gijinka (+G or +Opt.G)

In Gijinka variants of a roleplay, instead of being a Pokemon or other creature, you are a redesign of a Pokemon in a human form (a Charmander gijinka could look like a human with a Charmander tail, ginger hair, and so forth.) You can find an example of this here. In Optional Gijinka variants, instead of being forced to be one of these creatures, you can choose to either be a Gijinka or a standard Pokemon. Outside of this, the roleplay plays the same as it would without the variant.

Trainer (+T)

In Trainer variants of a roleplay, in addition to other creatures such as Pokemon, you are allowed to be Pokemon Trainer or a human. Outside of this, the roleplay plays the same as it would without the variant.

Freeform Based

In a Freeform based PMD, the host runs a plot in the background of the roleplay, along with various systems (including item drops, leveling, etc.), while letting the players either follow along with it by entering dungeons and other interactions, or letting them simply freeform roleplay to develop their own plots. You can find a link an example of this type of PMD here.

Plot Based

In a plot based PMD, a host usually control the events that happen in the RP, and narrates the story and the events inside, somewhat like Murder Mystery. The RP can vary on its openness, depending on the plot. (( For example, a roleplay about two guilds in a rivalry may be more open ended than a whole guild going on an adventure to save the Pokemon world. )) Despite this, a plot based Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is closed to others after it starts.
